We have completed the foundation and are getting ready to start the framing of the addition. The new foundation has been built to allow more wood and siding be exposed different from the existing construction. This new foundation is built 30" below grade to meet frost footing requirements. We have also insulated around the new foundation with 2" of "Blue Board" rigid insulation. This is placed on the inside of the new foundation wall from the top of the new footing to the bottom of the new concrete slab. You can see a glimpse of this to the right of the foundation. The existing concrete patio will be cut off and we will be pouring a new floor after we have removed the existing walls and have renovated the lower level bathroom. The grade around the foundation has been leveled with the existing black dirt that was onsite from the excavation. The next pictures will be demolition and framing.
